Cutting Image With Photoshop Using Extract Filter

Open an image in photoshop


Duplicate layer (right click on layer palette), hide the background image by clicking on the eye in front of the layer, and activate a background copy.

Go to menu > Filter > Extract
Select the Edge Highlighter Tool, and set the Tool Option.

Draw an outline around the part of the image that you want to extraxt.

Use Magnifier if you need to zoom image while working with it, and use the hand to move image around. And use the eraser to remove your selection if you accidentally paint over the image.
As you finish make a selection, select the Paint Bucket Tool and fill your selection. And your image should look like this.

press cancel if you want to make the necessary changes. And press OK if you are happy with the result.

Define Brush

With photoshop, we can make brushes with any shape that you want, and used it every time u need to used that.

Okay, now we shall to try to make a brush.

Make a new image with white background, make a new layer on top of your white background, and draw a shape and fill it with black.


Now, select your image, and go to edit > copy



Make a new file with transparent background, and paste.



Now, go to edit > define brush. And name it whatever you want and press OK.



Now, select your paint brush tool, and you will notice a new menu appears at the top. From this menu, click on the triangle and find your brush. Select a color and start drawing !

Define Pattern

At this moment we shall make a pattern and use it to fill any selection.

Open a new image with a white background.

Make a new layer, and make the shape that you want to repeat in your pattern.

Now, select your image, and copy (ctrl+c).

And make a new image with a transparent background, and paste your image into the new file.



Now, go to edit > define pattern.
Name your pattern whatever you wish and press OK.

And now, use a Paint Bucket Tool to use your new pattern.
When you select a paint bucket tool, you will notice a new set options at the top.

Select the drop-down menu, and choose “pattern”

And select the nexy drop-down menu, and chose your new pattern.

And now, make a new file, and fill it with your paint bucket tool.

Eraser Tool

Eraser Tool is used for erases a pixel of image. You can simply erase a pixels by drag the Photoshop Eraser Tool across the image.

Pixels are erased to transparency, or the background colour if the layer is locked.

History Brush

History Brush frequently is not used because at consider doesn't has good function. history brush used to draw to repeat effect ever at use in a picture with take snapshot from history pallete.


Example :

open an image file, for example likes cat picture under :

click menu filter > artistic > fresco

and now, by using history brush we shall return some of picture will be to like at first.

Clone Stamp Tool

Clone Stamp Tool are used to duplicated part of an image.

Original Image

Hold on the Alt key, the cursor will change, and click the point that u wish to clone.

Click and draw where you want the cloned image to appear.

Brush Tool

Brush Tool has an equal function with a pencil tool, that is to drawing (painting) directly to the image. Left-click and drag your mouse in the image to draw with Brush Tool.

Healing Brush Tool

Healing Brush tool are used to fix image imperfections such as scratches, blemishes, etc. By using a predefined pattern you can blend the imperfections into the rest of the image.

Lasso Tool

Lasso Tool are provided in three variations.

1. Lasso Tool
2. Polygonal lasso tool
3. Magnetic lasso tool

To make a selection with the Lasso Tool, you can simply drag the lasso around the area that you want to select.

Crop Tool

Crop Tool, is a tool that used to cut some of picture. cut an image use a crop tool will produce a smaller picture than original picture, but with same resolution.

Crop Tool also can be used to cut picture of the size that determined (height, width, resolution), with do arrangement in option bar.

fill in number in box width, height, and resolution next with the unit, for example: px, cm, and the others.



image front button is used to regulating size crop tool according to file size that is active.

Magic Wand Tool

Almost similar to marquee tool, Magic Wand Tool also used to make a selection. but, differ from marquee tool, magic wand tool can make selection with once click, and magic wand tool make selection based on colour similarities in picture.

Move Tool

Move Tool make possible you to move a selection or even to move entire layer by dragging it with your mouse or with arrows keys at your keyboard.

Moving Selections

Make a selection, and drag with your mouse or your arrows keys.

Moving Layers

Click the layer from the layers palette to activate a layer that you want to move.

Then click on the canvas, and move anywhere in the canvas.

Marquee Tool

Marquee Tool is used to make a selections, make various form, like box, ellipses, and single row or colomn.

Rectangular marquee tool is used to make a rectangles selection.
Elliptical marquee tool is used to make a ellipses selection.
Single row marquee tool and single colomn marquee tool are used to make a 1px row or colomn selection.

Selection Mode.

Marquee tool have 4 selection mode.

New Selection, to replace a new selection.
Add to Selection, to add new selection to first selection.

Subtract from Selection, to remove new selection to first selection.



Intersect with Selection, result selection between first selection and new selection.
